Wednesday – September 27, 2017 – Worship Has to do With Your Soul
Deuteronomy 11:13-16 (NLT) “If you carefully obey the commands I am giving you today, and if you love the Lord your God and serve him with all your heart and soul, 14 then he will send the rains in their proper seasons—the early and late rains—so you can bring in your harvests of grain, new wine, and olive oil. 15 He will give you lush pastureland for your livestock, and you yourselves will have all you want to eat.
16 “But be careful. Don’t let your heart be deceived so that you turn away from the Lord and serve and worship other gods.

Your spirit makes you aware of God while your soul makes you aware of yourself. As a result of mankind’s fall in the Garden of Eden, mankind lost the awareness of the presence of God and everything became self-focused. Mankind began to fend for themselves and thought that everything they received was the result of their own self efforts. That is not how God sees things. He knows that everything comes from His hands, even the things that are needed for existence.
The Israelite’s relationship to Him became all about what He did for them, not who He was. They began to use God as a means to an end, not an end in Himself. When life became more about them than about God, they began to form gods in their own image forgetting that they had been created in God’s image. Jesus came to change all of that by dying on the cross so we could become new creations; to what He had intended for us in the first place. Our awareness needs to change back to focus on God and not on ourselves.
Worship God with all of your soul.
