Prayer Focus of Week 5:
Personal and Corporate Spiritual Growth and Maturity.
Key Verse For Week 5: So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. The focus of this week is to pray so that we may learn God’s maturing grace. We also desire that the Holy Spirit will help us grow into spiritually mature people. There are several characteristics that help demonstrate our spiritual maturity and growth. Some of these characteristics will be our prayer focus.
A mature person finishes what they start, so we need to continue in prayer not just start, but finish. This is our second to last week, how are you doing in this? Did you start with great enthusiasm but are not as engaged as you need to be? Then you need endurance.
A mature person makes wise decisions, so we need to grow in God’s wisdom and knowledge. We all have made bad decisions, but are we learning from them?
A mature person bears spiritual fruit, not by self-effort but by a natural outflow of a life giving relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. Ask God to fill you and refill you to overflow with His love, His presence, His peace, His joy and His supernatural power…we need it more than ever!
A mature person who walks in unity and in love is not trying to always pick at others and allow frustration and irritation to build up to a place that it causes devastation in their relationships. As we get ready to move ahead as a church, we need unity and that only comes through maturity, people who understand that the goal is more important than the role.
A mature person understands that living their lives for others is where the greatest joy resides. It is not the easiest way to live but it is the most rewarding way to live. Spiritually mature people desire God’s will more than their own.
Pray that the Lord will help you in all these areas and watch out for opportunities where His love and maturing grace can shine through your life…

All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we’ve been shown the mystery! I’m telling you this because I don’t want anyone leading you off on some wild-goose chase, after other so-called mysteries, or “the Secret.” Colossians 2:2-4 (Msg)
