Day 2 – January 7
Philippians 1:6-10(NLT) And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. 7 So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God, both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the truth of the Good News. 8 God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus. 9 I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.
Here’s the good news, God finishes what He starts! We are a work in progress, that should give us hope. Pride says, “I have arrived, humility asks, where do I need to change?” The greatest sign of a humble heart is a loving response in all circumstances and in all of our relationships.
Do you know what really matters? Love matters, people matter, you matter! We need to grow in knowledge and in understanding but knowledge without love leads to arrogance. And it is impossible to grow in understanding without growing in love. We limit our potential when our focus is primary gaining knowledge and grasping for understanding, without overflowing in love!
- Ask the Lord to show you where change is needed.
- Pray for the courage to start the process of change(knowing that God is your Partner in this ongoing process)
- Pray so that you may grow and overflow in God’s love, especially toward those you deem difficult to love.
