Day 5 – January 10
Philippians 1:20-26(NLT) For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die. 21 For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. 22 But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better. 23 I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me. 24 But for your sakes, it is better that I continue to live. 25 Knowing this, I am convinced that I will remain alive so I can continue to help all of you grow and experience the joy of your faith. 26 And when I come to you again, you will have even more reason to take pride in Christ Jesus because of what he is doing through me.
Living life to its fullest can mean so many different things to different people. What does it mean to you? As a Christ follower what should it mean? Will you be able to say what Paul was able to say? He fully expected to never be ashamed and always to be a bold witness for Christ. He trusted that his life would bring honor to Christ living or dying! What a powerful life stance.
As a Christ follower; living life to its fullest means living everyday for the glory of Jesus and becoming more fruitful for the work of Christ. There is a subtle danger for those of us who claim spiritual maturity and years of so called Christian experience; where we cash it in, retire and feel we are done. If you are truly done, then why is Jesus not taking you home? If there is breath in your lungs, there should be purpose in your steps.
Why not use the rest of your days, to help others grow and experience the joy of their faith? What are you waiting for? “Get busy living or get busy dying…” I suggest living!
- Ask the Lord to give you boldness to pursue His purpose.
- Pray that you will become more fruitful even as your role changes in life.
- Pray that the Lord will energize you to start today and move beyond the excuses you use as validation for not pursuing His plan.
