Friday – March 2, 2018 –The Holy Spirit Brings Ultimate Justice.
Isaiah 42:1-4 (NLT) “Look at my servant, whom I strengthen.
He is my chosen one, who pleases me.
I have put my Spirit upon him.
He will bring justice to the nations.
2 He will not shout
or raise his voice in public.
3 He will not crush the weakest reed
or put out a flickering candle.
He will bring justice to all who have been wronged.
4 He will not falter or lose heart
until justice prevails throughout the earth.
Even distant lands beyond the sea will wait for his instruction.”
Since the fall of mankind in Genesis 3, the world has been full of injustice, of the strong taking advantage of the weak. Throughout history, stronger nations have conquered weaker nations by force. However, through the Holy Spirit, a time is foretold of where justice will prevail, and it will be accomplished through gentleness and not force. When Jesus speaks, He will not raise His voice, because His power is not in the volume of the sound; it is in His person and even a gentle whisper produces what He desires.
The one whom the Holy Spirit is on (Jesus) is meek and lowly. Read Matthew 11:29. He is gentle, even to the weakest reed, and will not extinguish even a flickering wick. He does not come to crush or to douse. He comes to strengthen and to ignite. If you have experienced injustice or discouragement in your life, this word is for you. He will strengthen you and set you on fire to see justice brought into the world. The reed will become a strong oak and the flickering flame will become a blaze.
The Holy Spirit came upon the ancient Israelites to wage war. He will come upon believers in Christ with a new kind of warfare. It will not be waged against people with natural weapons; it will be waged against spirits who have opposed mankind since the fall with spiritual weapons. The stronghold will come down and those who have been held captive will be free and will themselves be strengthened and set aflame.
Prayer: Thank you, Holy Spirit, that through me, the weak will be made strong, the complacent will be set on fire and victory will be won through gentleness and lowliness.
