Trusting His Covering Grace
August 11th – August 17th
Prayer Focus of Week 4:
Personal and Corporate Safety and Protection.
Key Verse for Week 4: Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Psalm 91:1-4 (NLT)
Things to Pray:
- Ask God to hide our children from harm.
- Ask God to shelter our youth from evil influence.
- Ask God to give rest to our elderly.
- Ask God to protect those in the military.
- Ask God to grant wisdom to our governmental officials.
- Ask God to encourage Christians to provide prayer covering for all in authority.
- Ask God to give refuge to leaders under spiritual attack.
- Ask God to lead our spiritual leaders away from temptation.
The focus of this week is to pray for God’s covering grace in our lives, over our children, our youth, as well as those who lead us. God desires to be our Rock and our Shelter and He tells us to go to Him for protection. So how do we go to God for protection and covering? Very simply, we go to God through prayer. So let’s ask God for His divine protection over our families, our kids, the soldiers serving on the front lines, our governmental leaders, and also our spiritual leaders.
Pray that God would keep them from harm and that he would grant them wisdom and lead them away from temptation. Pray that God would give them the wisdom to lead and for you to become “lead-able”. The Bible says, it would be for your benefit!
Purpose to spend daily time in prayer and the Word this week and encourage those who lead you, by praying for them, knowing that they must give an account for you!
And there by the Ahava Canal, I gave orders for all of us to fast and humble ourselves before our God. We prayed that he would give us a safe journey and protect us, our children, and our goods as we traveled. For I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to accompany us and protect us from enemies along the way. After all, we had told the king, “Our God’s hand of protection is on all who worship him, but his fierce anger rages against those who abandon him.” So we fasted and earnestly prayed that our God would take care of us, and he heard our prayer. Ezra 8:21-23 (NLT)
Be merciful to me, God; be merciful to me because I come to you for protection. Let me hide under the shadow of your wings until the trouble has passed. I cry out to God Most High, to the God who does everything for me. He sends help from heaven and saves me. He punishes those who chase me. Selah God sends me his love and truth. Psalm 57:1-3 (NCV)
Jabez was a better man than his brothers, a man of honor. His mother had named him Jabez (Oh, the pain!), saying, “A painful birth! I bore him in great pain!” Jabez prayed to the God of Israel: “Bless me, O bless me! Give me land, large tracts of land. And provide your personal protection—don’t let evil hurt me.” God gave him what he asked. 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 (Msg)
When I was desperate, I called out, and God got me out of a tight spot. God’s angel sets up a circle of protection around us while we pray. Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—how good God is. Blessed are you who run to him. Psalm 34:6-8 (Msg)
Let all who run to you for protection always sing joyful songs. Provide shelter for those who truly love you and let them rejoice. Our Lord, you bless those who live right, and you shield them with your kindness. Psalm 5:11-12 (CEV)
The Lord is good, giving protection in times of trouble. He knows who trusts in him. Nahum 1:7 (NCV)
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies. 2 Samuel 22:2-4 (NLT)
It is better to trust the Lord for protection than to trust anyone else.Psalm 118:8 (CEV)
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NLT)
How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world. Psalm 31:19 (NLT)
But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. Luke 6:27-28 (NKJV)
Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. Proverbs 30:5 (NLT)
That is why you need to put on God’s full armor. Then on the day of evil you will be able to stand strong. And when you have finished the whole fight, you will still be standing. So stand strong, with the belt of truth tied around your waist and the protection of right living on your chest. On your feet wear the Good News of peace to help you stand strong. Ephesians 6:13-15 (NCV)
And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God. Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit. Pray for us, for our conscience is clear and we want to live honorably in everything we do. Hebrews 13:16-18 (NLT)
